INMARE guide to 2018 autumn international trade fairs
The Cannes Yaching Festival, the boat show that, as usual, inaugurates the autumn season, has just ended. Followed with great attention by everyone - insiders and public - the event was not only a show of yachts but also a show of financial numbers, numbers that the main groups of the international nautical industry presented during the usual press conferences. Economic data that tell of a positive 2018 for everyone (especially for the "old markets", North America and Europe) and that give hope for teh new nautical year, 2019, started off on the right foot. In the concordant positivity of the moment, here we are the INMARE's guide to the unmissable events taking place where, before that elsewhere, “sail the seas”, after having been a necessity since the dawn of time, has become a passion: France, Atlantic coast, but above all Côte d'Azur and Italy.
INTERNATIONAL GENOA BOAT SHOW / 20 - 25 September 2018
The 58th edition of the Genoa Boat Show will take place from 20 to 25 September 2018. This is an unique event for its distinctive feature to being a three -in-one tradefair. In a single boat show you will find 100 thousand meters of sea dock, another 100 thousand meters of exhibition space on the ground and a refurbished indoor itinerary, displaying the latest news of the shipbuilding, engines, electronics, accessories, tourism and all the related services. With 948 exhibitors and 46 boats in the water, the show is an unmissable event for the international marine and boating market and it's a global platform for institutional, technical and market comparison for the entire sector, 365 days a year. Moreover, year after year, it welcomes visitors with a complete offer, confirming itself as the gateway for a 360° experience. Visitors will experience the passion for the sea and water sports testing the boats and participating in many special activities. More than 1,000 boats are on show, from the four traditional areas: sailing, outboard engines and inflatable boats, powerboats and motor yachts. The latest news on national and international boating are presented along a renewed route with new jetties and reserved areas.
The Sea Experience will be the privileged setting for those who want to participate in first-hand laboratories and sea trials. The Pavilion B and the Teatro del Mare, on the other hand, will mainly host the Ucina Institutional Conferences, giving voice to the marine and boating sector, analyzing the main current issues, including news, comparisons with institutions, technical aspects and support and development policies. The Teatro del Mare will also host appointments that will entertain guests and exhibitors of the Genoa Boat Show with musical happenings, concerts and awards for professionals. All this seasoned with top quality hospitality, made possible by the renewed partnership with Eataly, in a unique setting: Genoa, with its artistic treasures and events that will bring the city to life.
GRAND PAVOIS LA ROCHELLE / 26 September – 6 October
Created in 1973, the Grand Pavois La Rochelle has become one of the major events in the international boat show calendar as it has seen the number of exhibitors attending multiplied by 20 and visitor numbers 30-fold, passing the 100,000 visitor mark in 2002 to make the Grand Pavois one of the largest international in-water boat shows. 10,000 square metres of exhibition space, themed areas catering to special interests, 750 boats on show including 300 in the water, over 800 international exhibitors. This year too, the Grand Pavois boat show remains faithful to its stated ambition of meeting the needs of the professionals and to inspire visitors dreams. The possibility of visiting boats (all kind of boats!) berthed in a port, in water rather than indoor, in large exhibition halls, is what makes the difference between this tradefair and the others. In addition to the superb spectacle of boats moored in the marina of Minimes, every year a large exhibition space of 750 m2 is dedicated to a "guest of honor" country. In the spotlight of this edition there will be Madagascar, with its marvelous tourist attractions, its exotic gastronomy and its water sports, one of the main attractions of the Grand Pavois 2018. In short, everything suggests that it will be a can't miss, magnificent event of great atmosphere.
MONACO YACHT SHOW / 26 - 29 September
Organized in the iconic and fairytale glimpse of Port Hercule, in the Principality of Monaco, since 1991 the Monaco Yacht Show is the most important boat show dedicated to large yachts (over 25 meters). A unique place where you can admire, visit, and buy - ça va sans dire - one of 120 superyachts exhibited by the world's most prestigious shipyards. Every year, about 40 new launches are presented in a worldwide debut, to fuel the wishes of a social elite gravitating in the world of luxury goods and services. More than 580 exhibiting companies and rigorously selected partners take part in this extraordinary event: builders of mega yachts, designers and luxury artisans, all high-end specialists.
There is nothing surprising about that: contrary to other sectors, the mega yacht one is alive and well, and constantly evolving. And the Montecarlo Yacht Show attracts an average of 28,000 professionals, potential buyers and simple visitors. An important showcase for luxury brands showing the "family jewels" and the “newborns”. Gigantic structures, worked as jewels from the hull to the smallest detail and equipped with the latest technologies: superyachts are designed and produced as authentic works of art and, as such, they require care and meticulousness.
Besides, for the purpose of informing and educating marine sector customers, for a few years, there's the Monaco Yacht Summit, an annual event that is held every Yacht Show eve. In this occasion, recognized experts in the field of superyachts will lead informational debats while participants will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face specialists selected to answer their questions regarding different aspects of rental, purchase, management and property. And you? Do you already have in mind what the yacht of your dreams could be?
